The days have started getting cooler and the nights darker. I can’t wait until its cool enough to start wearing jackets on my daily walks and I don’t have to worry about having pockets for the dog treats. Already the leaves are beginning to turn and the wind has picked up. I could do without the spiders invading the indoors though.

Autumn is my favorite time of year, and not just because of my birthday, though I am sure that has a part in it. The way the air smells and tastes – crisp, sweet, and cool. The cloudy skies, the sound of soothing rain, the rush of wind – all are a relief to the endless stifling hot and blinding sun of summer. It’s the approach of Halloween, when magic becomes real, and the thrill of a coming November of writing. And as the nights grow longer and darker the stars come out, so close and so clear and glittering like the frost. And the colors! Red, and gold, and brown instead of the endless green. I’ve always been happiest in the fall.

A couple weeks ago I got an email from the NaNoWriMo headquarters asking to confirmed myself as an ML for another year. Only two months left before another month of noveling excitement and I’m already tempted to start marking off days. My excitement is helped by actually pinning down the story that I’d going to do – it’s been one that’s been begging to be written since I started NaNo.
