It’s been a crazy January. About the time I realized that the month was coming to an end and I really ought to do a blog post then life kicked into high gear for awhile, and I got hauled along to a dog show.

I’m not really one for resolutions. With every year they feel more and more like a list of things that I will fail at. It’s depressing, and that’s the last thing I need. Besides, resolutions are all about the end result. What ever happened to the journey?

I’ve been tossing about ideas for blog posts for the last couple of weeks. I landed on resolutions. Why? Because if I had made a resolution to update this blog more often, I’d have already failed at it. It’s a sort of backwards way to go about things I suppose, but that’s just how I roll. This year I’m not going to have resolutions, I’m going to have goals. On the surface there isn’t much difference, but how I look at it is that instead of resolving to do something I’m setting goal posts for myself.

I have a goal of writing at least one blog post per month. So far, so good! I also want to read at least 75 books, and watch 50 movies. I read about 60 books in 2009, and I fell just short of having watched 100 movies the year before. I like goals that are challenging, but not impossible. I’m not going to plan any goals for video games this year, though undoubtedly I’ll sink plenty of time into them. No writing goals either, because that puts too much pressure on something I already have a lot of pressure on.

Well, I suppose if I fuss around about how lame this post is any longer then I’ll never get a blog post out this month. Onwards and upwards into the new decade!
